After owning and operating a self-sustaining farm for several years, Aaron and Julie Williams along with their five children started Williams Farm Tour, LLC Farmers? Market as a way to engage consumers and teach them more about agriculture.

The Williams Farm Tour, is centered on ?family.?  The entire family is involved in the market from doing chores, harvesting all of the produce to working and selling at the market and more.

?We look at our market as a learning tool for our five children,? says market manager Aaron Williams.  ?They have learned the definition of hard work, common sense and responsibility. Everything they have learned they will carry on with them for the rest of their lives.?

As a new market, the Williams? knew it was important to start small and continually grow.  The market offers fresh produce from their garden including strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, asparagus, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, corn, beans, beets, lettuce and more.  Also available are homemade breads and cakes, bottled honey, handmade soap, craft items and small antiques.

In the future months the market is looking to expand the services they offer including incorporating more vendors to sell more diversified products. The market is also looking to incorporate EBT Cards and Senior Farmers Market Vouchers.

The building for the market was built last year, but wood used for the siding dates back to the 1700s. The wood came from an old wire mill that was recently torn down.  The market is growing and is now looking to expand building space by adding a kitchen and expanding the number of livestock they raise to include beef, rabbits, chickens and dairy cows.  This would allow the market to process meat to sell at the market as well as milk and fresh eggs.

The Williams Farm Tour, LLC Farmers? Market is open on Friday?s and until noon on Saturday?s but visitors are welcomed throughout the week.  The address is 1711 E Main Weir, KS 66781.  From highway 69-400 and 103 travel 2 ¼ miles west and the farm will be on the north side of the road.
