Companies adding value to ag products like wood carvers and soy candle makers a great fit for trademark program

Kansas has innovative business people taking raw ag commodities and creating products right here in state. You could be making cutting boards from Kansas wood, leather products from Kansas hides or goat milk soap from local goat’s milk. We have a multitude of offerings and benefits for specialty food companies as members of the From the Land of Kansas trademark program. Value-added agriculture companies who manufacturer their products in Kansas qualify for membership under our value-added category.

All members receive a free listing as a member on our website. This allows you to create a larger presence for your company. You can post pictures of your companies, write your own business description, link back to your own site, social media profiles and provide direct contact information. 

Social media
Trademark platforms have an increasing consumer-facing presence. The trademark team creates posts for members Levels 3-5, but also shares posts regularly from all members. In addition, the team runs multiple campaigns throughout the year including, “Member Monday,” “Where are we Wednesday,” “Tell us Thursday” and “Feature Friday.”

Making connections
The trademark team’s goal is to facilitate business connections for our members. The trademark team helps network manufacturers and artisans looking to source ingredients locally. We connect members through the networking at the annual meeting, resources on the Buy/Sell portal and other opportunities. 

Promotional items and signage
The trademark team has several branded promotional products available for our members to purchase at wholesale prices. Examples of promotional materials available include paper coasters, branded disposable and reusable glassware, product tags, plant tags and more. Please share with us any additional promotional items or materials that would be beneficial to you or you would like to explore cobranding. Qualified members (Levels 2-5) are allowed to use the From the Land of Kansas logo on products, promotional materials and hyperlink to the trademark website with approval from the trademark team. Level 1 members may only use the trademark logo as a link to the trademark website in electronic promotions only.

Business development opportunities
All members receive the regular newsletter, Trademark Tidbits, highlighting opportunities, new information and membership highlights. In addition, all members have access to the member/partner-only information on the blog, FromtheLandofKansas.com/blog. Login at the top right of the site. Please make sure to list your company or market name when you register, this will ensure we give you the correct access privileges for the site. The site is updated regularly with information from our business for our business development partners. Topics include social media, branding, creative design, consumer marketing, photography tips, telling your story, unique promotion opportunities and more. The program also hosts an annual meeting where members can connect with other businesses and also work to further develop their business and marketing plans.

Gift baskets
The trademark team works with organizations and businesses from across the state to provide custom gift baskets highlighting Kansas products for meetings, events and other occasions. We work with our members (Levels 3-5) to make sure baskets represent the state in the best way possible.

Trade show pavilions
We host an annual trade show for qualified, Level 2 and higher, From the Land of Kansas members to promote their products to wholesale buyers. This trade show is held in conjunction with the program's annual meeting. In addition, the trademark team coordinates and hosts Kansas pavilions at international shows of interest to our members and buyers.

From the Land of Kansas event calendar
All members are eligible to submit events they are hosting to the trademark team. After being reviewed the events will be posted on the website event calendar and promoted to consumers. 

Barcode initiative
The barcode initiative assists members interested in selling their products in retail locations. Many large retail chains require every product to have a barcode. The initiative allows From the Land of Kansas to offer barcodes at a reduced rates to qualifying members (Levels 2-5).
