While winter weather in Kansas can be frightful, we’re here to share the story of a From the Land of Kansas member that is so delightful.

Located 3 miles south of Towanda, Kansas, lies Fulton Valley Farms owned by David and Betty Corbin. The property was established in 1869 by David’s great-great-grandfather and the family has farmed for five generations. Now their farm serves as a wedding and event venue. What was once were dairy and hay barns have now been transformed into the main office and venue spaces, respectively.

Christmas is Fulton Valley’s main attraction, but preparation for the most wonderful time of the year begins on November 1. While upkeep of the grounds occurs year-round, the farm is transformed into a winter wonderland in the weeks leading up to December. Lights are strung and greenery is added, along with presents wrapped and placed at the entryway. The country-Christmas ambiance has a homey, nostalgic ambiance you’ll have to see for yourself.

Fulton Valley only hosts their Christmas events for 16 days out of the year, but there are plenty of events to attend with your family! Children have the opportunity to meet Santa at Supper with Santa, held on Black Friday, and this year they've added Pancakes with Santa held on two Saturday mornings. Sleigh rides are also available for all ages. Thursday through Friday, a live nativity is held with animals and actors. As you leave, be sure to check out the brand-new Jingle Bell Emporium gift shop for all of your holiday needs.

Something unique about Fulton Valley Farms is that they are the only farm in Kansas where you can meet a reindeer! The five reindeer also make guest appearances at events and two have even starred in a Hallmark movie.

For those who want to start their own event venue, Betty has some incredible advice. “You should definitely be passionate about what you do. It is very work intensive, but make it something you love, and you won’t be working. It’ll be something fun.”

The owners of Fulton Valley love nothing more than meeting with guests during their visits. “It really is God’s gift back to us,” says Betty. They take pride in having a place families to enjoy, and each year, more and more families make the visit to the Wichita-area winter wonderland.

Be sure to plan your visit to Fulton Valley Farms from Nov. 26 – Dec. 19!
