Are you looking for a new, fresh way to expand your protein options? Maybe you just want to eat healthier, or perhaps you follow a vegetarian diet. No matter your reason, Kansas Protein Foods offers several soy-based products in their Kansas Kitchen line for you to enjoy.

In 2018, Kansas Protein Foods was opened by Kansas Ethanol. Many of Kansas Protein’s products are used for meat extension or even replacement and are often sold to larger facilities as ingredients for soy protein-based foods. It was not until 2020, when Kansas Protein Foods decided to launch the Kansas Kitchen product line, that these plant-based products could be used in one’s own home.

Currently, the Kansas Kitchen line offers soy-based chicken strips, taco-flavored crumbles, sausage crumbles, and unflavored crumbles. These products are available in 1-pound bags and can be purchased online through Amazon, or in select stores in Newton and Hutchinson. Be sure to keep your eyes on the website for the upcoming option to directly purchase the Kansas Kitchen products from the Kansas Protein Foods website. Check out their Facebook and Instagram pages for more updates as well!

The sky is the limit with Kansas Kitchen. Now those who choose to opt meat out of their diet can enjoy soy-based versions of meals such as sloppy joes, chicken pot pie and enchiladas. Try using the unflavored crumbles as a topper for cereal, muffins or yogurt. Not only are the Kansas Kitchen products a great option if you are looking to try something new, but they are shelf-stable and affordable. Not a master chef? No problem. These products are ready to use once boiling water is added.

According to Laura Francisco, sales manager for Kansas Protein Foods, soy protein (which is what their products are made from) is the only non-animal protein source that is a complete protein. “This means it has a full amino acid profile. These products are designed for a wide range of different consumers from vegan and vegetarian, to flexitarian and those just looking to add a little extra protein to their favorite meals.”
