Jamaican Inspired Lamb Patties

Ingredients

  • Filling
    • ½ Medium Onion Chopped
    • 1 Teaspoon Granulated Garlic
    • 1 Teaspoon Paprika
    • ½ Teaspoon All Spice Powder
    • 1 Teaspoon Curry
    • 1 Teaspoon Ground Mustard
    • 1 Teaspoon Dried Thyme
    • 1 Teaspoon White Pepper
    • 3 Green Onions Chopped
    • 2 Tablespoons Chopped Parsley
    • ½ Teaspoon Salt (add more if needed)
    • ½ Teaspoon Chili Powder
    • 1lb Ground Lamb
    • ¼ Cup Breadcrumbs
    • ½ Scotch Bonnet or Habanero Pepper Chopped
    • 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
    • 1 Cube of Chicken Bouillon
  • Crust
    • Two packages of puff pastry
    • Melted butter

Making the Filling

  • Add 2 tablespoons of oil to a saucepan followed by onions, garlic, paprika, thyme, curry, chili powder, white pepper, all spice powder, and chicken bouillon. Let simmer for 2 minutes.
  •  Add ground meat, breadcrumbs and continue cooking for 10 minutes stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  • Add ½ cup of water to the meat and boil out. Finally add green onions, parsley and season with salt and pepper. Then remove from heat and let cool.

Assembling Patties

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cut puff pastry into circles or rectangles.
  • Scoop a heaping tablespoon of filling into each circle.
  • Brush melted butter around half of the circle and fold in half to press edges together to create half a circle.
  • Using your fingers or the back of a fork, press along the edges of the dough to seal close.
  • Carefully place each pie on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Enjoy your Jamaican Inspired Lamb Patties served warm.
