Located in the Flint Hills just west of Cassoday, Rommey Farms is more than just a farm; it represents a lifelong dream and a gift to the local community. Founded in 2016 by Susan and Don Rommelfanger, this 52-acre farm produces fresh vegetables, cut flowers, eggs, and honey using sustainable practices and plenty of care.

For Susan, farming is not just a job; it is a way of life. Growing up on a farm near Towanda, she developed a passion for gardening alongside her father. “It is empowering and awe-inspiring,” she explains, “to put in the work, bury something, nurture it, and watch it grow into something beautiful.” Her mission has always been to provide fresh, locally grown food rich in nutrients — precisely what Rommey Farms aims to do.

What started as a small garden in an old cattle holding pen has flourished into a diverse farm. They grow vegetables like lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, and seasonal flowers. Products are sold directly to customers through their CSA program, farm stand, online store, and vendor events.

Rommey Farms also has a flock of chickens and ducks — originally a wedding gift to Susan and Don — and a thriving bee colony that produces raw, unfiltered honey. The farm is open to visitors, allowing them to see how food is grown and learn simple, sustainable practices

You can shop for Rommey Farms products every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the farm stand and at the El Dorado Farmers & Art Market on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Their 2025 market season is packed with fun events, including Kids Activities Day (June 29), Produce Fest (July 13), Kids Entrepreneur Day (July 27), and Boos and Brews (October 5).
